Mok-Jeong has tried to express his own color with simple and limitless touch. The touch of brush with short and cut and black ink with the end of brush like fragments sometimes are bold and rough but painting of landscape after this process is surprisingly quiet and clean.

목정은 단순화하고 거침 없는 터치로 자신만의 색깔을 표현하기 위해 노력했다. 짧게 끊어 치는 붓끝의 터치나 붓끝으로 튀어 오르는 파편 같은 먹물은 때론 대담하고 거칠지만 그렇게 탄생한 한 폭의 산수는 놀랍게도 조용하고 담백하다.

“여백은 상투적으로 남겨 놓는 빈 공간이 아니라 작가의 의지로 설정된 가장 적극적인 의미의 표현체이다. 그래서 여백은 정형화되어 화폭에 표현된 사물 너머의 무한한 공간을 끌어당기는 상상의 공간이며, 상상력이야 말로 신이 인간에게 주신 가장 큰 선물 중 하나이다.”

EXHIBITION

“Drawing a picture is the promised time to escape from all and be free. Breathe with breast,
taking a spiritual rest from the story of space is the meaning of my life and the price of self-esteem.
I will draw in rest of my life and draw again until my body is broken, and then my paintbrush will come to an end. “

“그림을 그린다는 것은 모든 것으로부터의 해방이고 자유로워지는 약속된 시간이었다.
가슴으로 숨쉬고, 공간의 이야기로 내 영혼의 안식이 되었으니 내 삶의 의미였고 자존의 값이었으리라.
남은 여생도 그리며, 또 그냥 그리다가, 내 육신이 허물이 질 때, 붓 놀림도 끝나리라.”

The emphasis of margin and emptiness does not include all drawings of Mok-Jeong.
At time, they have given voice, with a gloomy mood, to the heaviness of life and nature.

여백과 비움을 강조하기는 하지만 목정의 그림이 모두 그런 것만은 아니다.
때로는 가슴이 먹먹할 정도로 육중한 삶과 자연의 이야기를 토하듯이 표현하기도 했다.
